Problems with the update KB3004394 on Windows 7: Here is how to uninstall it

Microsoft removed the automatic update marked with the code KB3004394, advising manual uninstall to those who have already received automatically via Windows Update.

Here’s why and how. If you are a user Windows 7, Microsoft and AMD recommend removing the package KB3004394 released during the last Patch Tuesday, the canonical appointment of the second Tuesday of each month when Microsoft publishes Windows Update any security updates.

Removal is recommended if you are experiencing problems when installing new drivers or in other cases.

As we read on the Microsoft support site, KB3004394 update the Windows Root Certificate, but a bug in the code would have caused serious problems on some configurations based on Windows 7. Microsoft has already recognized the problem and advised on the official support forum uninstalling the patch. The drastic remedy is also recommended by AMD whose users complain about the inability to install new graphics drivers following the latest Microsoft updates. The same problems may also occur if you have NVIDIA video cards.

The bug of the new patch would seem to involve only a limited number of systems with Windows 7 installed, while users Windows 8 should be safe. Microsoft has already taken steps to remove KB3004394 from routine automatic installation of Windows Update, but who has already updated and verified the problems described above can just uninstall the patch with the following short procedure :

From the Start menu to launch the Control Panel.
Select Programs and click View installed updates.
In the search box at the top right type the code ” KB3004394 “.
On the list in the center of the screen, select Update for Microsoft Windows (KB3004394) with the right mouse button and click Uninstall.
Confirm with Yes.
