Pebble Time Round, Smartwatch with e-paper display move and great autonomy

The company releases its first smartwatch with circular display, Pebble Time Round, while maintaining the e-paper technology with low energy consumption.

After the launch of Time Pebble and Pebble Time Steel, the company released a third model smartwatch this time with display perfectly circular. It retains the e-paper technology for small panel as well as the software features of previous models, but the whole design is reviewed.

Pebble Time Round weighs only 28 grams and with a thickness of only 7.5 mm is the smartwatch that more resembles a real clock on the market in terms of size.

The device is available in two sizes for the straps, 20 and 14 mm, and three versions with different finishes: black, silver and a special edition of ” rose gold ” available exclusively with strap 14 mm. These will be available in two different materials at launch, with the cheapest model in the skin and the most expensive metal. For the new model Pebble has abandoned the approach with Kickstarter, choosing for a traditional pre-order phase already begun in the US.

The peculiarity of the new smartwatch is of course its e-paper display circular that, differently from the models SuperAMOLED and LCD, you can save considerably on energy consumption. In this way the panel Pebble Round Time is always-on, always on, and can be viewed at any time without the slightest expectation. The colors supported are 64 and is quite characteristic of the presence of a visible circular frame (necessary) around the panel.

It takes just 15 minutes of charging, the company says, to get up to 24 hours, with a total duration that it could reach several days before requiring a recharge. Under the body are usually the Pebble OS, revised in many ways to better accommodate the new circular display and its size.

Users who have financially supported Pebble Time Steel also have the opportunity to receive the new model with a round discounts of $50. Pebble Time Round will naturally be compatible with iOS and Android and will be offered at a list price of $249 and $299 respectively with leather straps or metal.
