The advanced notifications can reactivate the new MacBook from sleep

Advanced notifications can reactivate the new MacBook Pro 13″ Retina from sleep. It is normal, says Apple; nothing changes than before if the computer cover is closed.

Apple said in a document of technical support that the new MacBook Pro, 13″ Retina early 2015 may receive advanced notifications that reactivate the computer from sleep. Some applications and services (Mail, FaceTime, services like Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter) can wake the computer from sleep to send a notification when you receive a message. Nothing changes than before if the computer cover is closed.

The new features are an evolution of technology Power Nap, already seen with OS X 10.9 Mavericks. When the Mac goes to sleep, Power Nap automatically performs some periodic tasks, such as checking email, calendar management and other updates to iCloud. If your Mac is connected to power, Power Nap also enables the Time Machine backup on Time Capsule, and AirPort download software updates for OS X.

Apple has improved some services allowing, for example to call during the sleep functions such as ” Back to My Mac ” (which is also active in sleep and even when the lid is closed): Apple says that it is no longer necessary to use a base AirPort or a proxy of sleep, as long as the computer is plugged in.
