New Acer Chromebook 15: 11.5 hours of battery life

Acer unveils a new Chromebook 15 CB3-531 budget from $199.99 promising over 11 hours autonomy on a single charge.

At the Four World Trade Center in New York, Acer announced a number of devices, including the new Chromebook 15 CB3-531. It is a particularly interesting notebook especially for what it offers in relation to the price: a 15.6-inch display and an autonomy of 11.5 hours, all at $199.99 in the market.

On the technical side, we find a display LCD 15.6″ backlit LED resolution 1,366×768 , while under the shell is an Intel Celeron N2830 dual-core processor with 2 GB of RAM and GPU integrated Intel Graphics. The storage subsystem is cured a 16 GB eMMC, while on the media we will have two ” big speakers facing up ” and a webcam that supports the High Dynamic Range.

Completing the list of the technical specifications a 2×2 MIMO network adapter compatible with standard 802.11 Wi-Fi, support for Bluetooth 4.0 and two USB ports, one 3.0. The new Chromebook 15 may also be connected to an external monitor via the HDMI port, while the tight storage space can be expanded via the SD / SDXC which can accommodate memory cards up to a maximum of 128 GB.

Acer Chromebook 15 CB3-531

Chromebook 15 CB3-531 echoes the design of earlier models of the family with a rough texture gray and is able to   withstand a drop from 45 cm height without damage. It weighs 2 kg and at the thickest part has a high profile 24.2 mm. These are technical specifications modest but assume greater importance if we consider the outlay required from Acer with its new Chromebook model.

We must consider all the limitations of a solution with Chrome OS at time of purchase but for a basic usage of the system as online browsing, email management, viewing or editing documents or images, the operating system Google may be one of the most simple and fit for purpose. And in the case of the new Acer Chromebook 15 CB3-531, also among the cheapest.
