New Dell Venue 8 Pro 2016: Windows 10 and refurbished hardware

Dell renews the popular tablet Venue 8 Pro with Windows 10 and refurbished hardware. The new 2016 version is characterized by the presence of the WUXGA display with 1,920 x 1,200 pixels, the new Intel Atom Z8500 SoC, 4GB of RAM and additional tweaks to the hardware equipment.

Dell Venue 8 Pro was one of the most popular tablet Windows by 8″, thanks to design features and good value for money. The first model came on the market in 2014, was the subject of a review of the hardware equipment in the following year, but it was not until the beginning of 2016 to attend a stronger renewal of hardware and software equipment. The new Dell Venue 8 Pro 5000 series was recently spotted in Dell’s online store, currently only in the US market.

While the version introduced at the end of 2015 was essentially a slightly revised version of the previous model, the 2016 edition renews the hardware by aligning it in several respects to that of another well-known Windows tablet, the ThinkPad 8 by Lenovo.

It starts from the display always 8″ but, which can now benefit from a panel with WUXGA resolution of 1,920 x 1,200 pixels (the previous Venue 8 Pro 5000 Series used a display with 1,280 x 800 pixel HD resolution). Also renewed the SoC with the Intel Atom Z8500 (CPU Quad Core 2.24GHz and 2MB Cache) that gives the change to Intel’s Atom Z3740.

The allocation of RAM memory is from 2 GB to 4 GB. Dell now provides as a standard memory cut the one with 64 GB expandable up to 128 GB via microSD (absent at the time the version to 32 GB of storage), while the fund keeps the camera sensor unaffected by 5 MP for the main form, but keeps track of the improvement of the front module now based on a sensor 2 MP (1.2 MP as in the previous model).

Regarding connectivity, it indicates the presence of the new USB Type-C connector – which also allows to convey video streams in addition to allowing the charging of the terminal – and the presence of the NFC module.

Software soul of the new Dell Venue 8 Pro consists of Windows 10, while one of the distinctive traits of the tablet is the compelling form-factor, compared to the category – measuring 216 x 130 x 9:45 mm and weighs 377 grams.

As anticipated at the beginning, the new Dell Venue 8 Pro is reported only in the USA Dell Store for now and is offered starting from $ 449 with delivery estimated in 11-14 working days. Dell provides, as an accessory, the Dell Active Pen, but does not specify the type of digitizer built into the display.
