Dell XPS One 27 – Review

Thanks to the courtesy of Dell, in these last few weeks, I have had the opportunity to try out the Dell XPS One 27, a PC All-In-One touch-screen of the last generation in which is contained a concentration of power and technology, capable of quickly and easily any kind of operation. As for my personal experience, this is the first time I use a touchscreen PC and I must say that I was really surprised, despite the initial discomfort caused by the 27″ inch display, which people used to use a PC medium size, are really a lot.

Despite this, it took me long to get used to and to fully appreciate the quality of the display and the PC itself. Before going, I would like to dwell for a moment on the design.

Dell XPS One 27 – Design

The first feature you notice is the thick glossy frame that surrounds the display, in which, in the upper part houses the Full HD webcam for video calls. Continuing along the frame, in the lower-right corner are three capacitive buttons that brightened the passage of the hand, allow you to increase or decrease the brightness and turn off the display or change the source (PC or HDMI). In addition, there is also a fourth button, always capacitive, which lights up when you insert a CD or a DVD, and that it allows the expulsion.

Regarding the structure ” supporting ” the Dell XPS One 27 is supported on a solid base to which it is anchored firmly with articulated support a double zipper that allows you to adjust the height and tilt of the display to your liking. Also thanks to the 16 kg weight and the above basis, the terminal will still even with a considerable pressure on the screen.

Continuing our ” tour “, below the frame are positioned infinity premium speakers with Waves MaxxAudio 4 technologies that offer excellent sound quality, perfect for the daily entertainment. To be honest, the sound from the speakers is really powerful so much so that not to jump out of the chair whenever you first started out playing a piece of music, I had to set the volume to half, if not less.

Regarding connectivity, in the rear there is a large panel engraved with the brand of the producer, within which the various ports are summarized in the list below.

Under the hood of the Dell XPS One 27 we find a latest generation hardware, as I said at the beginning, be able to play any kind of trouble-free operation. The application launcher, for example, thanks to the Intel Core i7-4770s and 4th generation 16 GB of RAM, is almost in the blink of an eye. The graphics are impressive: we find an Intel HD Graphics 4600 coupled with an NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M with 2 GB of memory.

The combination of these features makes the Dell XPS One 27 suitable for practically any situation of use, work up to the Games. Moreover, those who like me are usually to store a large number of files, you will not have to worry about the remaining space: the terminal is equipped with a SATA 6 Gb / s to less than 2 TB.

Closing the ” hood ” I would like to devote a few words to the touch-screen display. After the initial distrust, and ignoring the many fingerprints that accumulate during use, I have to say I was very surprised to discover the great possibilities that it offers a desktop PC with this type of display.

The touch despite the resolution, it has proven very accurate and responsive, so allow me to give up almost completely mouse and keyboard during everyday use. Also, thanks to Windows 8 and its applications, the touch-screen display was much more useful than I expected. The only negative goes to a flicker, I noticed that setting the brightness to a minimum.

The Dell XPS One 27 is an All-In-One PC with excellent performance, equipped with the latest hardware, able to perform any type of operation fast and suitable for any environment from domestic to professional.
