Google Pixel C, Big G challenge Microsoft Surface focusing on pricing and Android

The Mountain View company has announced its first solution for the tablet market with a 2-in-1 ” convertible ” with removable accessory keyboard.

In short, Google challenge Microsoft and its Surface a product that embodies the same concept, but with an approach at the same time very different. The hardware platform is based on a quad-core processor NVIDIA X1 with integrated GPU architecture with Maxwell, all supported by 3 GB of RAM LPDDR4. The display has a diagonal of 10.2 inches instead and supports a native resolution of 2,560×1,800 pixels, bringing the value of the pixel density at 308 PPI. Google Pixel C is part of a family that before now was dedicated to devices with Chrome OS.

Similarly to last Chromebook Pixel, the new Google Pixel C uses a USB Type-C for charging. The keyboard will be sold separately as an on Surface, and it will be available two variants officers, one aluminum and the other in skin. These two accessories will be connected magnetically and make themselves as a support to keep the tablet at different angles with respect to the supporting plane. When the device is not used, the keyboards can be stored as protection for the display of the tablet and charged inductively.

Unlike models for Microsoft Surface, Pixel C keyboards will work through the standard Bluetooth and not through a physical connection to the device. Pixel C is actually the first Android tablet that Google develops its own without relying on contract manufacturers, and as a member of the family Pixel carries a list price of typical premium products, but lower than the outlay required for Microsoft Surface 3 or Surface Pro 3.

Google Pixel C coast $499 in its basic version with 32 GB, until you get to $599 for the 64 GB version of integrated storage. Even the keyboard is offered optionally with an additional outlay required amount to $ 149.
